The Zetec motor lacks an ear to which the shift linkage support bracket had been bolted on the older motor. This necessitated fabrication of a bracket spacer so that the linkage support bracket would remain properly aligned.
I’d noticed that some competitors use this spacer as a base for a brace that extends over to and is then bolted to the side of the block. For now, all we were trying to do was fill the gap and keep the linkage support bracket aligned.
This was a relatively straightforward task requiring but 20 minutes or so to accomplish.
